Suzy O’Rourke

If ever you doubted that millinery could be called an art, then you need only look at the craftsmanship that goes into couture millinery pieces like these by Suzy O’Rourke. O’Rourke’s autumn / winter 2012 couture collection, which aptly goes under the title of ‘Gilt’, features the types of sculptural shapes that are her hallmark. Vines of 24 carat plated golded leaves twist their way across base hats made from velour rabbit fur felt or, in one example, across a pair of ear muffs made from black satin petals and mounted to a gold headband. A delicately ornate mask is made from chantilly lace plated in 24 carat gold.
